Free monthly budget tracker

Type in what you spent, tag it with a category of your own wording, and see where the month actually went. No spreadsheet, no bank connection, no card details - and no charge, in dollars or in SMO.

A free account holds your entries privately. Signing up also credits 500 SMO, and checking in the next day adds 100 more.

What a month looks like

Say you add $1,450 Rent, $320 Groceries, $180 Groceries, $95 Transport and $60 Coffee. The summary reads $2,105 for the month, and the by-category panel puts Groceries at $500 on a bar half the length of Rent's. The pattern you are looking for is usually the second bar down, not the first - rent is not the surprise.

What it does, precisely

This is a record of what you spent, not a forecast. There are no budget limits, no alerts and no projections - the point is an honest look backwards, which is the part most people skip.

Why a category you typed beats a category we chose

Fixed category lists fail in a specific way: the spend that matters to you has no home in them, so it gets filed under Other and disappears from the very breakdown meant to expose it. Here the category is free text. If your problem is called Takeaway, the chart says Takeaway.

Frequently asked questions

Is the budget tracker free?

Yes. It costs no SMO to add, edit or delete an entry, and there is no paid tier - the 5,000-entry ceiling is a sanity bound on a free feature, not a price. An account is required only so the entries have somewhere private to live.

Do I have to categorise every expense by hand?

You type the category yourself rather than picking from a fixed list, so it matches how you actually think about your money. Reuse the same word and the breakdown groups them; the by-category bars are worked out from whatever categories you used that month.

Can anyone else see my entries?

No. Every entry is stored against your account and read back only with your own sign-in. There is no sharing, no public view and no export to anyone else.
