What posting costs

Browsing and answering an ad are free and need no account. Posting one does need an account, and the first three are free for the life of it — a running lifetime count, so deleting an old ad does not hand the slot back.

Boosting again while a listing is still featured charges again and restarts the seven days from that moment rather than adding to what is left, so it is worth waiting for the window to run out.

Finding things, and buying them

The board carries sixteen fixed categories, from Electronics and Vehicles through Services Offered, Jobs & Gigs and Free Stuff. Filtering by one, or searching, reloads the grid; featured ads float to the top and everything else is newest first.

Search looks at the title only. An ad whose description mentions a bike but whose title says "kids' outdoor gear" will not come back for "bike".
Price is free text, so it may read "$40", "£25 ono" or "swap". Nothing sorts or filters on it.
Up to 200 ads load at once, with no next page beyond that.

Nothing is sold through this site. Show contact info reveals what the poster chose to publish, and the whole deal — payment, delivery, viewing the thing first — happens between the two of you. No escrow, no ratings, no refunds. Treat it as a noticeboard.

Is it free to post a classified ad?

Your first three are, counted across the whole life of the account. After that each ad costs 25 SMO, and deleting old ones does not win back a free slot.

Why can't I find an ad I know is on here?

Search matches words in titles, not descriptions. Clear the search box and pick the category instead — that lists everything in it, newest first.

How do I pay the seller?

However the two of you agree. Contact details are on the ad, and no part of the payment or handover runs through SimpleMoney, so the usual caution about meeting strangers applies.
